Aniocha North Council Chairman, Okwechime Donates Sienna Utility Vehicle To Council Workers Union, NULGE

Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Kevin Okwechime has donated a Sienna Utility Vehicle worth millions of Naira to the NULGE Branch Union in Aniocha North Local Government Council.

Hon. Okwechime formally presented the vehicle to the branch Union Chairman, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua on Monday January 15, 2023 at the council premises in Issele-Uku, headquarters of the Local Government Area.

The brief, but impressive ceremony was witnessed by the Secretary to the Local Government, (SLG) Mr. Kennedy Okoh, the Head of Personnel Management of the Council (HPM) Dr. Patricia Dede, as well as Management and staff of the council.

Presenting the vehicle, Hon Okwechime said his administration will continue to work in synergy with the workers union to move Aniocha North forward, saying that the welfare of the workers just as that of the people of the area will continue to be topmost in his administration’s priorities.

He said that the presentation of the vehicle was to enable the leadership of the union to address their transportation needs and assured them of his administration’s resolve to always meet their needs within the limit of available resources.

The council boss, used the opportunity of the event to call on the body of workers, to go and collect their Permanent Voters Cards, with the extension of the deadline by INEC, even as he admonished them on the urgent need to adhere to the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) new currency policy.

He advised them to pay in their old naira notes into the bank, before the expiration of the timeline of January 31 as directed by the CBN.

Receiving the vehicle, the branch Chairman of NULGE, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua who was visibly elated, appreciated the Council Chairman for his administration’s uncommon benevolence to the workers of the council, describing him as the most workers friendly Chairman in the State.

Ogwugwua recalled the Chairman’s exploits in the ongoing building of a magnificent NULGE Event Center in the Council and said that the Council Chairman, having the opportunity of laying the foundation of the Event Center on his first day of assumption of office, had taken it upon himself to ensure construction work goes on at the site.

He said that Hon. Okwechime was inaugurated as the Executive chairman of the council when the union’s account was in the red as a result of the mortgaging of its check off dues which is supposed to be the impress for the running of the union, for the purpose of building a befitting NULGE HOUSE AND EVENT CENTRE, stressing that his assistance made the union not to feel the hash impact of the mortgage.

“We started the construction based on the financial capacity of the union, but it got to a stage, we were trapped financially and the Executive Chairman, Hon. Kevin Okwechime in conjunction with his management team came into it and you can see what we have there, an impressive upcoming edifice to the glory of God.

“I specially want to appreciate the Council Chairman; my heart is heavy with gratitude, because,  I was not thinking in the face of what he has been doing at the NULGE HOUSE building site, that they will begin to conceptualize the buying of a vehicle such as this for us again,” Ogwugwua stated.

While praying for the fulfillment of Hon. Okwechime’s dreams, Ogwugwua pledged the continued unalloyed support and cooperation of the workers of the council in the realization of his administration’s goal of taking the Local Government area to a greater height.

In her remarks, the Head of Personnel Management of the Council, Dr Patricia Dede appreciated the Council Chairman for his love and care for the workers and said that it has been a great source of fulfillment working with him, even as she reiterated the resolve of management and Staff of the council to continue to be there for him and his administration.

Dr. Dede assured the workers that she will always work with the Chairman to ensure that the ongoing NULGE Event Center, located in the premises of the Council, is completed before her retirement in March.

Highlight at the brief ceremony was prayers and anointing of the vehicle by Pastor Clement Osedebe and Pastor Stephen Oliseafiana
