It has been series of endorsements for Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, the PDP Candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, by various Groups and Organizations, as their sole candidate in the general election in 2023.
The endorsements were attestation of Rt. Hon. Elumelu’s overwhelming victory at the PDP Primary election in May and his acceptance by the generality of the People of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
On Saturday August 20, 2022, a renewed community based socio cultural and political pressure group, Odiani Peoples Mandate, OPM, took their turn and announced the unanimous endorsement of the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu as the only candidate they will work for his victory in the contest for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections
Odiani Peoples Mandate, OPM, comprised of all the communities in Odiani clan, one of the clans that made up Aniocha North Local Government Area in Delta State.
The colourful ceremony which was held at the constituency office of the Federal Lawmaker at Issele-Uku was attended by the leadership of the group and delegates from the various communities within the clan.
Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu was represented at the event by the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Aniocha North, Hon. Dr. Charles Mohayam Ochei and the Secretary to the Aniocha North Local Government, SLG, Hon. Kennedy Okoh.
Speaking on behalf of the Group, their National President, Apostle Ayo Ashiedu said that the group’s endorsement of the Minority Leader was based on the assessment of what he has done previously as the representative of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,
He clarified that their assessment was in consonance with the verifiable performances they found on ground within the four local Government areas in the Federal Constituency as well as the uncommon activities of Ndudi Elumelu at the floor of the House of Representatives, describing him as a Legislator par excellence.
“After consultation and assessment of the previous performances of public office holders, both elected and appointed, in our Federal Constituency, we discovered that Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, the Member representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Representatives has performed creditably well.
“Hence, we the members of Odiani Peoples Mandate, OPM, home and abroad, met severally and unanimously endorsed him as our House of Representatives Candidate in the forthcoming general election come 2023.
“We have also unanimously resolved to do our best to support him, mobilize votes for him and vote for him and his party. Our gathering today is to make it known and formally present the letter of endorsement to him. With God on our side, we will emerge victorious,” the National President assured.
Apostle Ashiedu later led the gathering to a consecrated prayer session for Elumelu’s protection, guidance, favour and victory in the forthcoming general election.
Responding, the Chairman of the PDP in Aniocha North, Dr. Charles Ochei appreciated the group for putting the event together and said that the endorsement of Elumelu by the group was an added value to the expected overwhelming victory for the Party in the general election, not only in Aniocha North, but in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
He said that despite obvious challenges, Rt. Hon. Elumelu has not relented in his commitment to reaching out to the unreached; assuring that every community within the Federal Constituency will continue to benefit one way or the other from his representation.
Also in his acceptance speech on behalf of the Minority Leader, the Secretary to the Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Kennedy Okoh commended the group for their kind gesture and assured that despite the verifiable achievement recorded and continued to record by Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, as the representative of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, he will do even more for the people in the 10th National Assembly.
Okoh further assured that the Minority Leader will continue to make the people the centre of his representation in the National Assembly, saying that every section and sector of the Federal Constituency including massive human capital empowerment will continue to attract unprecedented attention as the representative of the people of the Federal Constituency.
The SLG, also stated that OPM and all other groups working for the success of the Federal Lawmaker in the forthcoming general election will not regret their kind gestures.
The Highlight of the event was the formal presentation of the endorsement letter to the representatives of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu by the National President of OPM, Apostle Ayo Ashiedu.
