2019: I am voting .But that may not change anything. I presume. Aso Rock. The seat appears immovable. Power, security and money are exclusive to the occupant.
The commander in chief – rigid, desperate and impervious- is not Jonathan. Warriors do not make peaceful telephone calls in transition hours. Not a heedless head of affairs.
Generals scarcely surrender even on the floor. Particularly a general who has tasted honey- power in white Agbada.
So my fixation is not on Abuja. There is a PMB . Dogged to defeat Unbending to bow out. Hell no!
I hold nothing against Atiku, but I am not dancing for him. I just note his courage. I simply wish him luck.
If wishes were horses, a Kingsley Moghalu, a Fela Durotoye, an Oby Ezekweli ….will be President ! But life in Nigeria is not as simple as a banana meal.
Politics is not polemics delivered in poignant sound bites on prime time TV. This is not debatable. When you live in a jungle called Nigeria, impunity is superior to superlative grammar, just as crudity diminishes civility in this clime.
This 2019, I am only animated about equity in Delta. Ifeanyi Okowa keeps resonating ….playing on and on like a melody. God never made the sunshine to be one- sided.
For other ballots in Delta South and Delta central parts, I have contrasting preferences across tribal and party cleavages. My psyche flies on the wings of equity. I can only vote in my ancestral stead, north of Delta but I know my pondering beyond my polling unit.
Few days herald Nigeria decides. As mortals we stand unsure, helpless to the might of power. There is a thick plot at the centre. The impossibility of change.
But someone is smiling, watching us all, from a distance.
Will of heaven please descend……
